Electric Generator Buying Guide

Excited to buy that electric generator? Take a breather for awhile before you do. You might want to consider these things before you whip out your hard- earned moolah to buy that electric generator that will tickle your fancy. Indulge yourself with megawatts of information straight from this electric generator buying guide.

1. Make it a canvassing project. Do not just settle for a one time bigtime offer. In a world of fast purchases with a premium on impulse, it will really save you lots of dollars and damage if you take the time to tour amidst the sea of electric generator manufacturers and see what each of them have to offer. A lot of good generators are often overlooked because of the overly- visible packaging of its less competent competitors. Marketing can sometimes just be pure smoke and mirrors, so be forewarned and do not easily be deceived.

2. People's recommendation remain to be the best. Who else is the better source of the best equipment reviews other than a well- meaning pal who actually experienced using that particular generator? It may be difficult to find a consensus among people on what electric generator to buy, but it is a tedious move worth going the extra mile for. Electric generator companies may generate their own testimonials of their products, but if your neighbor does not exactly agree with what they claim in their products, have enough room for second thoughts and change of options.

3. Electric generators have different wattages. Make sure you already have an estimate of how much wattage you want in a generator before you make your canvass. It would be useless to buy a generator that is not sufficient enough for your needs, whether it be for personal or industrial use.

4. Check for pricing, warranty and availability. Never settle for anything less. It pays to be really meticulous when it comes to long- term investments such as these. You would not want to realize that the product has no warranty should any problem arise in your initial usages. Make sure that you talk to the seller properly so that you can always go back for inquiries should the need arise.

5. Know how an electric generator works. Some people buy products then figure out how it works after making the purchase. In the case of electric generators, however, it would help if you already have a background knowledge on how the equipment works so that if you encounter any glitches in your first few days of using it, you would know that would classify as something unnatural to the generator as opposed to those instances that you can easily troubleshoot.

6. Decide on what type of fuel you would want to use for your electric generator. This will really affect how you use and how long you will be using your electric generator. The fuel type is really your prerogative. Just make sure that the fuel you will be selecting is something that is readily available and affordable to you for the most part. Otherwise, you will be doing a great disservice to yourself.

7. Determine also in advance the extra needs you would expect in your generator to further narrow your search. Whether it is portable or stationary, or makes use of manual or automatic transfer switch is also depending upon where and when you will be using the said electric generator.

8. Don't just trust the experts. Some people will force you to buy a generator that didn't really match your needs just to make their sale. Don't allow yourself to be deceived by such people. Know what you are buying, and might be bring a pal with you to help evaluate your options as well. An expert in electric generators who doesn't have any vested interest in getting your money to their advantage will prove to be of invaluable help in this period.

9. Consider the equipment that will make use of the electric generator. Research on the approximate wattage requirements of each item- whether it be your washing machine or coffee- maker or the television. Estimate the amount of time and energy it will consume in a day and take it from there. For example, a refrigerator makes use of 3100 watts and a computer makes use only of 300. If you want to truly maximize your electric generator, you don't take wattage levels bigger or smaller than the actual range of consumption of your appliances.

Wind Generators Kill Thousands of Birds Each Year

Bird running into wind turbine blades and killing themselves appears to a much bigger problem than many people want the public to know. In fact a single cluster of wind generators in a year or two could kill more birds than the Santa Barbara, CA mini-oil spill, which caused a huge media stir prompting President Richard Nixon to change the EPA laws.

But something needs to be done. Perhaps a sound alert system unpleasing to the birds or some sort of blinking lights that are displeasing may keep the birds away and prevent injury might be a start along with the idea of a softer cushion coated leading edge and front face on the wind generators is needed? One online think tanker stated on this subject;

?A very simple and effective solution would be to cover the blades with a mesh-like lightweight material, like thin trampoline material, but lighter, that doesn't deter movement, but will provide some bounce.?

Indeed perhaps that might be a relevant component to the system. My point being if environmentalists are pro-environment but look the other way when these turbines cr?me 100?s of birds per year per cluster then that makes their argument for wind generation to help the environment rather awash in hypocrisy.

Such a modified wind generator blade could be a big part of the answer and therefore this idea warrants further review indeed. Another idea stated was;

?Now a fan blade cover can save birds without losing efficiency, provided the requirements be met. Also, if this design would be painted like a spider-web, because covering the blades would give a spider-web effect. This is a natural deterrent for the birds instinct.?

This makes a lot of sense because the reason the birds crash into the turbine blades in the first place is because they have not evolved long enough to naturally stay away from turbine blades made by humans. Consider all this in 2006.

Dump the Generators and Solar Up Your RV for About $8,000

To adequately set up a motor coach with solar power will run you about $8,000 and this will include the panels on the roof, super batteries, installation and a control module. The control module is the most inexpensive component, only about $150.00 and it will keep you from over cooking your batteries and turn off the collection from the solar panels when the batteries are 100% charged up. It will also prevent potential fire hazard too.

You will need a number of panels and you need to consider how much power you will need, including air-conditioners, lighting, microwaves, personal computers, dishwasher, washer and dryer or whatever additional electrical units you have. I do not recommend getting rid of your portable generator if you already have one, as you never know when you will need it. I have an Onan Quiet Diesel 7500 and I cannot ever imagine getting rid of it, even with the solar power.

When I say dump the generator, I really mean dump the fuel expense to run it and go pure, that energy from the Sun makes sense to use and with fuel prices this high the return on investment can be achieved very quickly for the full-time RV?er. Convert that wasted empty space on top of your RV and help yourself to some energy from the Sun. Please consider all this in 2006.

Password Generators

Always look for a password that is difficult to crack and is unlikely to be easily compromised. Usually, the best method for generating a password is to select a sufficient number of characters chosen at random. The problem is that such a password is usually very hard to remember. To make random passwords more memory-friendly, another method is sometimes used, i.e., random words or syllables are used instead of random letters. We can also find users who prefer to use mnemonic phrases that have random letters as the initial of each word.

Sometimes personal mnemonics are used. These involve things memorable to you, but not to others. Take this password for example: IvLwIw16. It derives from ?I visited London when I was 16.? It?s the user?s own memory and no one else?s. That makes it easier to remember and harder for others to crack.

A number of software programs have now been developed to generate random passwords containing a varied set of characters that include lowercase and uppercase letters as well as numerals. These are hard to crack or guess because of an optional combination of lower and upper case letters and numbers. Some of the programs give you the option to generate fixed or variable length passwords. Sometimes a high quality pseudorandom number generator is used which offers five methods for generation: a) automatic generation where the user can choose the contents, b) masked generation where the user specifies patterns describing the password, c) dictionary mode where it grabs random passwords from a file the user specifies, d) pronounceable mode for passwords that are easy to remember and e) character list mode for generating passwords comprising a chosen list of characters. All modes can choose lower-case, upper case or mixed-case letters. Some generators create purely random passwords while the others generate passwords based on wordlists. Although more secure, purely random passwords tax the user?s memory. Passwords based on wordlist, on the other hand, is more memory-friendly.

Safely using a portable generator

After the numerous hurrcance we've recently faced, many people have come to realize the importance of a portable generator. Unfortunately, since many of these poeple have never used one before they don't understand the hazzards that can be associated with portable generators. You should have no doubts - they can also be very hazardous if not used and maintained properly. Therefore, it's important to know the potential risks and how you can prevent or avoid them.

The most common hazard you will encounter with portable generator is carbon monoxide poisoning which can cause you to feel sick, dizzy, or weak, and with further exposure, can even cause death. To avoid this, do not operate your generator indoors or allow the exhaust fumes from a generator operating outdoors to flow into your home. You should also install battery-operated CO (carbon monoxide) alarms in your home.

To avoid risks of shock and electrocution there are a few simple precautions that you must follow:

1. Keep your portable generator dry by keeping it elevated and covered as needed 2. Plug any electrical appliances directly into your generator instead of an extension cord. If you must use an extension cord it should be a heavy duty, outdoor rated cord rated for the load that you are using. Make sure that there are no nicks or cuts anywhere on the cord. 3. Never use your generator to "back feed" your house wiring. This is extremely dangerous because it bypasses your built-in household circuit protection devices and puts utility workers and neighbors served by the same utility transformer at a risk of electrocution.

To avoid accidentally starting a fire, do not store fuel for your generator inside your home and always allow your generator to cool down completely before refueling.

By following these steps, you and your family will be able to safely enjoy the benefits of a portable generator during a power outage.

The Power Of Online Auctions As Traffic Generators

There are thousands of online auctions on the internet. People love them because they can usually find great bargains. If you have an online business, you can use them to increase traffic to your web site.

You could create an electronic book or report that relates to your online business, then auction it off at an online auction. You could increase traffic to your web site by placing an ad for your web site in the electronic publication. Some online auctions will even allow you to link directly to your web site.

Electronic publications won't cost you anything to ship. You could send them via e-mail or allow people to download the electronic publication from your web site. You can also auction them off for a lower price. When they visit your web site you could offer them a higher priced product.

You could also get traffic from people who don't bid or don't get the winning bid. You could direct them to your web site to download and read a free sample of the ebook or report before they bid. If they want more detailed information about the ebook or report, you could also direct them to your web site.

You can also get traffic to your web site by auctioning a physical product. Print your web site advertisement on a flyer or brochure then insert it into each product package you ship.

Before you start auctioning any product at an online auction, read the terms and conditions. Some auctions may not allow the auctioning of electronic products or directly linking to your web site where you have other products for sale.

Determining the portable generator that will deliver enough power

Because different models of portable generators are capable of delivering different amounts of power, it is important to choose one that will deliver enough power, or even slightly more power than you need.

To do this you will need to know what appliances you plan to operate simultaneously from your generator and then determine how many watts they need to operate. This information will be listed on a label somewhere on the appliance in most cases or in the user manual. Keep in mind that the wattage required to start an appliance is often higher than what is required to operate it. To compensate for variance you should utilize a portable generator that can handle an operating load at least 10% higher than you anticipate needing.

By choosing the most effective Yamaha portable generator for your needs, you will reduce your costs, weight and space required while maintaining enough power to meet your needs. You will also extend the life of your generator by not overworking it, and in some cases, the life of the appliances that are running off of it because some types of appliances can be damaged when operated without enough power.

Tips for Choosing the Right Portable Generator

A portable generator is just what the name implies. It is for portable and non-permanent, stationary, installed applications. Portables do not have a forced air cooling system that changes air within a compartment. It releases its combustion heat and exhaust to the ambient air, which simply means that you can't build it into a room or generator house without auxiliary air and exhaust handling equipment. A stationary unit has a forced air or other type of cooling system that allows it to be enclosed, most typically in an outside weather housing mounted on a concrete pad similar to a central air conditioning unit.

A portable generator does not have an engine controller, which automatically replicates all the actions you subconsciously perform when starting your car. Engine controllers allow for remote control via a simple on-off switch or automatically with an automatic transfer switch (ATS). Stationary generators also have more extensive protection and safety shutdown features than do portables.

Portable generators all operate at the faster 3600-RPM speed where more engine power is produced allowing for a smaller engine, which is a benefit in reducing weight. Most stationary units use larger engines running at a slower 1800-RPM speed to achieve the same power result, but with much quieter and smoother operation. It's kind of the same thing as the difference between your lawnmower and your car at a fast idle.

Don't try to cut corners by not getting a generator with enough power. The cost per watt (the unit of electrical power) goes down considerably as the size of the generator goes up. Many people create problems of all sorts by buying small. Only resistive loads like lights and heaters can be added directly to calculate load requirements. Others-like motors-require extra power of several magnitudes to start than they use to run. Most people have little comprehension of how much power they use in normal living or how much various loads consume.

If you're thinking of upgrading your generated power, remember that anything that makes heat with electricity (electric heat, water heaters, dryers, etc.) uses large amounts of power compared to other loads. If your house heats with electricity, consider another heat source or be prepared to buy a large generator.

Motors that start under light load (well and septic pumps, many fans) require two to three times the power to start than they do to run while those starting under heavy loads (refrigerators, compressors) may take as much as five times to start. A "rule of thumb": Allow 2-3 KW of generator power per horsepower of electric motor.

Benefits Of A Generator Sitemap

Generator sitemap programs can be downloaded from various sources on the Internet. Generator sitemap programs have two fundamental purposes. Generator sitemap programs help surfers navigate a site effectively. At the same time, a generator sitemap program encourages search engine spiders. Google offers one of the most popular generator sitemap programs ever to hit the Internet.

The generator sitemap of google makes it possible for a website to get listed and get updated by the google search engine. Setting up the generator sitemap helps speed up the addition of the web pages of a site to the google listing. The generator sitemap also makes it easier for a site to get noticed by online surfers. In addition, any changes made to a website that has a generator sitemap is immediately picked up by google. The generator sitemap also helps keep online information fresh and up-to-date for users.

Visibility is key to generator sitemap

Visibility is a major concern when using a generator sitemap. A website that is completely indexed has better chances of getting top search engine placement in page results. Many of the popular browsers used by searchers and that support java recognize generator sitemap programs. These include firefox and Internet explorer.

An online consumer that searches for a specific content on the web can immediately be directed to any one of the web pages of a particular site. The generator sitemap makes it easier for a search engine to provide accurate results from web pages they are familiar with.

Who can benefit from a generator sitemap?

A generator sitemap is highly recommended for websites that often do repeated modification of their web pages. A generator sitemap can be used for websites of any size, regardless of the number of web pages a site may contain.

Although using a generator sitemap is not a guarantee of increased site rankings, it does however provide a website a better opportunity of getting listed on a search engine.

Working with a generator sitemap

Most of the available generator sitemap programs available on the web make use of extensible markup language or XML. Similar to hypertext markup language or HTML, XML is used widely in blogs and syndicated feeds on the Internet. Each line of a XML code for a generator sitemap has a specific purpose.

The location or .loc identifies the name of the web page of a website. The line .lastmod indicates when the web page was last modified. The format for .lastmod can either be dd.mm.yyyy, dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm, dd/mm/yyyy or dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm. Shortcuts can also be used to simply the assignment of dates to the cell.

.changefreq advises the search engine of a specific time frame when the web page is regularly updated. This can either be done on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis. For web pages that are not updated, the value 'never' is used. .priority indicates the level of priority that a search engine should give a particular web page of a website. These levels range from 0.0 for least priority to 1.0 for high priority.

Creating a dynamic generator sitemap

Creating a dynamic generator sitemap is useful for websites containing various web pages. The google search engine makes it easy for users to adapt their google sitemap with the help of a python script.

The python script generates a sitemap using sitemap protocol. This creates a sitemap from either access logs, URL lists or from web server directories.

Tips for using a generator sitemap from google

As one of more popular search engines offering a generator sitemap for websites on the Internet, google offers a few tips for its loyal users. Using the google sitemap url encoder/decoder is helpful for submitting sitemaps to google. For websites that have numerous web pages, creating a sitemap can be a tremendous task. For this situation it is best to click on the column title in order to make it easier for a URL list to get sorted.

The google generator sitemap allows users to save their settings after creating a sitemap. Users can use these saved settings as a guideline for succeeding generator sitemap updates. The generator sitemap also recognizes the use of robots.txt files.

Using a generator sitemap is a positive move in getting top ranking on the Internet's top search engines as well as high visibility among online users.

Jeremiah Patton has been currently using sitemaps for easy navigation for visitors and for better crawling from search engines. Jeremiah Patton uses a sitemap for his work at home moms website http://www.2ndincome4u.com with great success.

Mini-Sites -- Highly Targeted Sales Generators

If you're looking for a highly effective method of increasing your Internet sales, then mini-sites may be your answer. Mini-sites are one of the most effective marketing tools online. Not only are they effective, but they're also very inexpensive and easy to create.

The concept is simple. Create a one or two page website that completely focuses on one specific topic. Everything within this page should have one purpose -- getting your visitors to take action.

This page should be neatly designed in standard HTML with no Flash or fancy plug-ins and very few graphics. There should be no banners or outside links of any kind -- nothing that will distract your visitors' attention.

The sole purpose of a mini-site is to attract highly targeted traffic. The more targeted the better. For example, if you have a website that sells a number of products, a good mini-site will focus on one specific product instead of all of the products. You can create a mini-site for each product you offer.

Designing Your Mini-Site

Each mini-site you create should be optimized for that one specific product. Concentrate on just a few keyword phrases, as this will help you to tighten your targeting. Remember ... the tighter the targeting the better.

* Title - Your "Title" should contain your most important keywords. You've probably heard that before, but I've found a slightly different method for optimizing the title. Since mini-sites focus on just one product, place the "most" important "keyword phrase" first. Not just your most important phrase, but the keyword phrase that you think people will use when they do a search. Instead of capitalizing the first letter, type it in lowercase, as most people type in all lowercase letters when searching. This will assist you in ranking higher in the Search Engines for your targeted audience.

* Description - Your description should focus on one specific product and not generalize. Make sure you include your most important keywords towards the beginning of your description. In addition, make sure your description describes your site in detail. You want your potential visitors to know exactly what you're offering. Your description should be less than 200 characters.

* Keywords - Concentrate on just a few keyword phrases.

* Heading tags - Search Engines pay close attention to the text displayed within the "Heading" tags. Place your most important keyword phrase within a "Heading" tag.

* Graphic Alt tags - Place a readable keyword phrase within your graphic "Alt" tags.

* Text - All of your text should focus on your product. There should be no filler text whatsoever. It should have one specific purpose -- getting your visitor to take action. Make sure you include your keyword phrases throughout your text.

If you'd like to set up your mini-site using tables, try to place your "Heading" text above your "Table" code. If this isn't possible, make sure you include your keyword phrases within your top left "Table cell" to assist you in ranking higher in the Search Engines.

Mini-sites are not limited to just your products. They can also be used with any affiliate programs you may be promoting. You can include extra incentives such as a free bonus for purchasing the product or even your personal recommendation. This is a great way to presell the product.

Hosting Your Mini-Site

Although it is much better to have your own domain name, these sites can be hosted on a free server and still rank high in the Search Engines. Keep in mind, free sites do not build trust and credibility. No matter which option you choose, make sure you place your most important keyword phrase (the keyword phrase that you think people will use when searching) within your web address.

Drive Targeted Traffic to Your Site

Once you have tested the effectiveness of your site and have a good conversion rate, (the number of visitors compared to the number of sales) you can buy targeted traffic. Overture is the number one pay-per-click Search Engine and will most likely produce the best results. http://www.overture.com

For additional options, visit: http://www.payperclicksearchengines.com/ They provide information and reviews on a number of pay-per-click Search Engines.

The key to using this technique effectively is to bid on "very" targeted keywords. This will weed out the casual visitors and only attract your target audience. There's no sense in paying for visitors who really weren't interested to begin with.

In addition to bidding on keywords, you can also advertise in targeted ezines and even purchase some targeted banner advertising. Be creative and take the time to test all of your promotions prior to spending a lot of money.

If you really want to increase your sales, create some mini-sites. They are one of the cheapest and easiest to create profit generators online.
