A Honda Generator Ensures You Don't Skip a Beat

There is nothing worse than being left out in the dark, literally! Power outages can be dangerous and inconvenient and with today's modern appliances and technology, dependency on electricity is even more critical than it was years ago. Without a generator, power outages can cause pipes to freeze, food spoilage, heat loss, cause mold to grow, and plastic to crack. This is especially applicable if you live in the southern United States, where tropical storms or hurricanes are frequent. Gas generators and diesel generators are advanced in design, and housing and permanent household generators are much smaller, smarter, and quieter than the older models. If you live in an area where storms are common, power outages with their grim regularity are certainly worth the price of a standby power system. Power grids are shared in such states as New England, the Carolinas and Florida. Therefore, if you live in North Carolina, a power outage in Florida would affect you, as well.

With portable generators, such as the diesel generator or gas generator, these devices can be loud, run on gasoline or diesel fuel and are hard to move. They can replace part of your household load if an electrical outage occurs, but you're only able to run a limited number of appliances at any one time. There are some remarkable manufacturers on the market that produce excellent portable generators such as the Honda generator or Generac generator. A permanent backup system can run off your home's propane or natural gas supply and can be directly wired into the household circuit panel. In the event of an outage, they will provide a seamless switch from the utility service to backup power. You can purchase residential standby generators systems such as Kohler that will monitor your home's utility power for interruption. If a power outage occurs, a switch automatically starts the generator and transfers the electrical load bringing your power back again. Such companies as Generac generators market fully- integrated systems that feature switching devices and distribution panels. The generator is usually in addition to these systems. There is usually only a 7 to 10 second outage with most built-in generating systems when a power outage occurs.

You can also direct where you want the emergency power diverted to, such as the essentials like the furnace, various appliances, and security systems of course, if you want the whole house run by generating your own power, you're going to need a powerful generator and a transfer switch that carries the same rating as your home's main distribution panel. A transfer switch is essentially the same as a glorified electrical panel and comes in manual and automatic models. You're going to pay more for the automatic system, which is also going to give you ongoing protection and reassurance for the future. If you decide on the manual transfer switch, you will have to power up the generator yourself and manually switch the load to the backup system. In neighborhoods that enforce noise restrictions, permanent generators are preferred. Manufacturers are constantly trying to reduce noise output from their units. Many popular portable generator manufacturers such as Yamaha generators and Coleman generators are starting to introduce permanent power generating systems into their product lines. Generators that are considered to be permanent are rated by their maximum electrical output measured in kilowatts. The best way to determine what size of generator to purchase is to list all of your appliances and items that will be run during a power outage and calculate the total wattage that these consume. Remember, when an appliance starts up there are surge requirements, which is usually higher than the normal running wattage needs and this needs to be calculated in your figure. The best way to determine what wattage you are going to need for your backup power system is to call an electrician.

Reducing Noise with Buying a Silent Generator

There is not such thing as a totally silent generator because after all there is an engine that is running and producing electrical power. What does happen is, these manufacturers of power generators will sometimes invest money in designs and materials that help reduce the noise through the engine or with sound dampening products. So when people talk about silent generators, they are really talking about noise reduced generators. There are some really well designed generators with good noise levels.

My first recommendation to people who have never brought a power generator is to ask someone who has one and go around and listen to how it sounds. For really bad designed generators, you can notice the difference at the engine sounds more like a lawnmower and can be very annoying not only to the owners but to the neighbors. If you do not know anyone with a generator, consider a generator with a noise level under 70 dB at 7 meters. This is around the average for many central AC units and should meet most municipal noise pollution laws. A good silent generator should have noise levels around this level or lower using sound dampening techniques.

Silent generators are also great for RV and marine vehicles. Because the vehicles are more enclosed and noise is more of a bother to the individuals in them. No one wants a noisy generator while trying to enjoy a boat ride or camping. A silent generator really solves this problem by lowering the noise level enough to talk over. Onan's MicroQuiet series is a good example offering really low noise levels for RV vehicles. There are a lot of other manufacturers as well that offer either quiet models or special sound shields or additions to lower the overall noise levels of their generators.

Many applications of generators also require quiet noise levels. Many municipalities and home owners associations have rules regarding the amount of noise pollution. These include how long lawn mowers and other noisy tools can be run. The same rules apply to generators and having a noise reduced generator that meets these standards is not only an option but a must. Many parks and other recreational areas have similar noise rules as well and quiet RV or marine generators will insure no problems arise from their use.

Noise is just one of the few considerations when purchasing a generator but is a very important one for not only comfort but to meet any rules or laws.

Great advice:

"Nobody's able to succeed or fail without an influence. Your experiences are determined by who you believe, from among those that encourage or discourage you. And you have to understand that losers are always more convincing. But their outcome is never a result of inability...just influence.

Why you should fuel your generator with natural gas

For those people who have invested or thinking about investing in a power generator for back-up power needs, extra electrical needs, or portable electrical needs, a big consideration should be the type of fuel that is used. There are many sources of fuel for providing electrical energy from the generator including gasoline, natural gas, diesel, solar, wind, and a few other fuel sources as well. The type of fuel selected for a generator can have big impacts on everything from the environment, cost, and electrical output. Sources like gasoline and natural gas are non-renewable where as solar and wind come free and are renewable. For continuous, high energy output, gasoline and natural gas are better fuel sources. These are just a few of the considerations. Natural gas, however has some major points over the other fuel sources and is recommended in this article.

Why is natural gas a good fuel source for generators? Well first of all, a lot of homes use natural gas to fuel stoves, ovens, and even fireplaces. Those who have paid the gas bill will often find it is much cheaper than the electrical bill. For those unlucky people with electric ranges, electric water heating, and other electricity dependent heating, the high price of electricity is a big cash vacuum. The price of natural gas is very good compared to other fuel sources as well. The energy output provided verses the cost is better than that of diesel and gasoline.

When it comes to generators, most backup generators work better with natural gas because the supply is already coming to the location. Most homes have a pipeline for their natural gas that can be harnessed by backup generators to supply electricity when other sources are not working. Automatic transfer switches can determine when there are blackouts or other electrical problems and supply electrical power produced from the location's natural gas source. This means that there is no need to purchase any additional fuel for the generator as it is already pulling from a decent costing fuel source in natural gas. This can not be achieved with some of the other fuel sources as well.

Another reason natural gas should be used in power generators is it's energy production which is comparable to that of gasoline and diesel. For people who have natural gas products, the energy output is not even noticeable but the cost is. Natural gas makes the energy to cost ratio efficient. For portable generators, the same output can also be achieved as natural gas can be supplied to the generator much like how a barbecue grill is supplied. This makes supplying fuel to portable units easy as all that is needed is a canister of natural gas that just needs to be plugged in to the fuel line.

Natural gas is also cleaner than both diesel and gasoline. Natural gas will cause less engine buildup and lead to longer lifetime of a costly generator. There are also natural gas conversion kits for many types of generators that allow changing the fuel type. These conversion kits can help extend the usefulness of old generators by using natural gas as the fuel type instead.

Natural gas is not only a good energy source for homes but also a good one for portable or emergency power generators as well. They provide high, continuous amounts of energy at a very efficient cost to both residential and business users.

To Create a Perpetual Traffic Generator

 by: Michael Southon

What runs through your mind when you hear that ezine articles will bring you masses of fr^e traffic, get you higher listings in the search engines, and raise your profile on the web?

For many people, their reaction is this: "But I'm not an expert - how can I write an article?"

Well, you don't have to be an expert and you don't even have to write the article - at least not much of it.

Interviewing internet experts is one of the easiest ways of coming up with new articles - all you do is ask the questions!

Here are some tips on how to interview internet experts:

  1. Ask them to introduce themselves to your readers - how did they get started in eCommerce? What products or services do they market and what are their domain names?

  2. What is their main promotion technique? Why does it work so well?

  3. Did they have a mentor? How important was their mentor in getting where they are today?

  4. What is the biggest mistake they made in their online career?

  5. What projects are they working on right now?

  6. What is the one program or software they couldn't do without?

  7. What single piece of advice would they give to someone starting out in online business?

Once you get their answers, you'll immediately come up with half-a-dozen follow-on questions. Write back to them with your extra questions. You'll quickly have more material than you can fit in your article.

To make your article flow properly, use chatty phrases like: "that's interesting, Joe..." or "that's a really good tip, Mary". Give the reader the feeling that you were having a real conversation.

The amazing thing about this technique is you'll never run out of new articles - there are enough experts on the web to keep you going for years to come.

Which is why I call this system The Perpetual Traffic Generator.

Michael Southon has been writing for the Internet for over 3 years. He has shown hundreds of webmasters how to use this simple technique to get massive free publicity and dramatically increase traffic and sales. For more information visit: http://www.ezine-writer.com/
