Recreational Vehicle Generators Considered

If you do any amount of dry camping, that is to say that you are not hooked up to power, sewer or water then you need to make sure that everything is working right. You need to make sure your RV Batteries are up to speed with no dead cells and that you have a decent generator. In choosing a generator there are many things to consider. Most importantly is power.

You will most likely need a generator, which can handle 50 or more amps. Why? Well if you want to run anything while the air-conditioner is on you will need to make sure you do not pop the circuit breaker. I recommend a 100 amp or larger generator. It should also be considered that you need a quite running generator so you do not wake up any temporary neighbors and destroy their peace and quiet.

Who makes the best quiet generators? Well the Japanese do and in the United States there is a company called Onan that I prefer. Onan makes wonderful quiet generators in their quiet diesel series. If you get one you will be very happy with it. Now also remember that all generators must be maintained so they run smoothly and at a proper mixture. So be sure to change the oil regularly, with filter and air cleaner as needed. Please consider all this in 2006.
